AM Green, DP World to export green ammonia, methanol from India

India’s AM Green has teamed up with Emirati logistics group DP World to jointly develop logistics and storage infrastructure facilities that will enable the global export of green fuels and chemicals from India.A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in December will pave the way for the export of one million tonnes of green ammonia and one million tonnes of green methanol annually, the companies said on Tuesday. The volumes will come from AM Green’s plants across its home country, including from a 1.3-GW green hydrogen-to-ammonia project in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. The initiative envisages the installation of bunkering infrastructure across Dubai, India, and Southeast Asia, as well as the development of port infrastructure across the Indian firm’s production sites. Additionally, the partners will aim to set up terminals across the EU, Far East and the UAE.“Together, we aim to play a pivotal role in enabling a low-carbon economy and advancing global sustainability goals,” said Yuvraj Narayan, group deputy CEO and CFO of DP World.AM Green is pursuing a goal of having five million tonnes of green ammonia production capacity by 2030. Last summer, it took a final investment decision (FID) on its Kakinada project, which will create a huge plant with an output of one million tonnes of green ammonia per year, set to be one of the largest ones globally.
