Climeon commissions first land-based HeatPower genset
Sweden-headed heat-to-power technology provider Climeon AB has announced the completion of the commissioning of four HeatPower 150 units at Landmark Power Holdings Ltd’s (LMPH) Rhodesia power plant in the UK, the first land-based genset power application of Climeon’s HeatPower technology.

Located near Worksop, Nottinghamshire, the Rhodesia plant is a first-of-its-kind project owned by VH Global Energy Infrastructure plc, and being developed under Landmark Power Holdings’ “FLEXPOWER PLUS” concept, designed for flexible power generation using natural gas engines, with enhanced energy efficiency and carbon capture technology.
The Rhodesia plant has an electrical capacity of 10 MW while additional capacity will be sold via a private wire power supply to local businesses to support vehicle charging stations.
Construction started in March 2022 and for the development of the Rhodesia project, LMPH and Victory Hill have partnered with global industrial groups such as Mitsubishi Turboden S.p.A., MTU Rolls-Royce Solutions UK, ASCO Carbon Dioxide Ltd, Climeon AB.
Utilize low-temperature heat
Climeon’s HeatPower units capture low-temperature waste heat from the engines via an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC), converting it into electricity and improving overall plant efficiency.
This commissioning demonstrates the capabilities of our HeatPower technology in advancing the energy efficiency of land-based power plants. We are proud to contribute to a more efficient and lower-emission energy system, said Lena Sundquist, CEO of Climeon.
LMPH develops, builds, and operates flexible power plants designed to support the UK’s energy system by addressing the challenges of balancing intermittent renewable energy sources.
Its FLEXPOWER PLUS concept offers a practical solution by ensuring reliable, efficient power generation while reducing emissions.
Climeon’s waste heat recovery technology plays a vital role in this concept by enabling the Rhodesia plant to generate additional electricity without increasing fuel consumption, significantly improving economic and environmental performance.
Our partnership with Climeon is instrumental in enhancing the efficiency of our power plants as we take steps toward a cleaner energy landscape, said Mick Avison, Founder and CEO of LMPH.
