HYCAP announces the arrival of a new director to focus on capital markets following a year of successful deployments and acquisitions

We’re pleased to announce the arrival of a new director to focus on capital markets following a year of successful deployments and acquisitions.

George Saunders arrives from NatWest where he focused on facilitating bank and institutional lender liquidity for innovative energy companies and transactions.

This included structuring or advising over 2GWh of grid stability assets as well as Europe’s largest zero-emission bus financing platform.

The new appointment starts 2025 in the same productive vein as 2024, where HYCAP announced further deals with Liquid Wind, a green electrofuel development company, Yamna , a global green hydrogen platform, ion Ventures, a BESS & Solar developer, and fintech software providers Zeti.

Investing across the net zero value chain, HYCAP portfolio companies also include Wrightbus, a world leader in EV and hydrogen fuel cell buses; Ryze Power, which transports and distributes renewable energy and Hygen Energy, a hydrogen production facility.

George said,

It is a fascinating time to be focused on energy transition and HYCAP is working with a diverse portfolio of companies, all of whom are growing, innovating and leading the charge to decarbonise energy and transport,

George’s roles within NatWest enabled him to support over £2.5bn of lending across a diverse range of transactions and sectors. He worked to structure and advise multiple EV fleet and battery storage transactions both in the UK and Ireland as well as first-of-a-kind portfolio financings for energy efficiency assets.

He added:

Both bank and Institutional funding has a key part to play in progressing decarbonisation and I look forward to working with lenders and the HYCAP portfolio to support the shift to a net zero economy.

CEO James Munce said George’s experience will be pivotal at a crucial time in the sector.

He said,

We are delighted to welcome George into the HYCAP group of companies at such a key time for the industry,

“Our portfolio of businesses are going to be very active in capital markets over the next few years and the innovative structuring experience George brings in energy transition will be pivotal in making this a success.”
