Multiple companies team up to establish European hydrogen single market

Nearly 20 European companies have formed an alliance as part of an initiative to advance a European hydrogen single market by connecting hydrogen production, storage, and consumption projects. The goal of this cooperation is to accelerate the implementation of the so-called H2Med Southwestern Hydrogen Corridor by the early 2030s, speeding up the decarbonisation of industrial regions, according to a statement published on Wednesday. The alliance brings together companies from France, Germany, Portugal and Spain. Members include Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), DH2 Energy Espamaa, Elyse Energy, Hydrogene de France (HDF), Hynamics, Moeve, Qair, Securing Energy for Europe (SEFE), SHS – Stahl-Holding-Saar GmbH & Co KGaA, Thyssenkrupp Nucera and Thyssenkrupp Steel Europe. Transmission system operators Enagas, GRTgaz, OGE, REN and Terega, which are the promoters of the H2Med project, also participate. The alliance will facilitate collaboration and communication between members across all hydrogen value chain segments, including production, technology, consumption, transport and others. Thus, a basis for the development of strategic projects will be created. Among others, the alliance will create incentives to scale up capacities for production and offtake as well as integrate supply and demand for energy in Europe. The cooperation within the alliance will contribute to the development of the Southwestern Hydrogen Corridor, which consists mainly of pipeline projects such as H2Med, HY-FEN (GRTgaz South-North hydrogen link) and HySoW.Among others, the development of a trans-European hydrogen ecosystem is seen as key for the decarbonisation of hard-to-abate sectors, including maritime, aviation and heavy transport.

The cooperation within the alliance will contribute to the development of the Southwestern Hydrogen Corridor, which consists mainly of pipeline projects such as H2Med, HY-FEN (GRTgaz South-North hydrogen link) and HySoW.

Among others, the development of a trans-European hydrogen ecosystem is seen as key for the decarbonisation of hard-to-abate sectors, including maritime, aviation and heavy transport.
