NextChem boosts circular economy collaboration
Italy-headed industrial group MARIE S.p.A (MARIE Group) has announced that its Group subsidiary NextChem has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a long-term industrial partner of MAIRE to collaborate on further enhancing advanced plastic recycling in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
According to a statement, this MoU confirms and reinforces the relationship of the parties which dates back to the 1990s, when MAIRE entered the UAE energy arena by realizing several strategic projects to transform natural resources into added-value products for the manufacturing industry.
This MoU is another step forward in collaborating on scaling up the circular economy in the UAE following the first step undertaken by NextChem in 2022 with the launch of an advanced plastic recycling plant in Abu Dhabi’s Kezad Industrial Zone.
This unit can treat up to 100,000 tonnes of polyolefin plastic pellets. The technology used is part of NextChem’s wide portfolio of innovative and efficient solutions that support the energy transition by decarbonizing processes and products.
By improving activities dedicated to waste sorting, classification, and the compounding of end-of-waste materials, these materials will be upgraded to recycled-based polymers to be supplied to local manufacturers and exported outside the UAE.
