Peab to build Kraftringen Energi’s new CHP plant
Nordic construction major Peab Group has announced that it has been commissioned by Swedish multi-municipality energy utility Kraftringen Energi AB to build a combined heat and power (CHP) plant in Örtofta.

The new CHP plant will be built north of Road 104 in Örtofta, Skåne region, adjacent to the existing biomass-fired CHP plant.
The new plant will complement the existing one and replace some older production units.
The plant will be equipped with flue gas condensation and a turbine for electricity production. The CHP plant will comprise one main building of 11,300 m2 gross area.
Boost regional power capacity
The new plant will almost double production capacity in Örtofta, which means that Kraftringen Energi will be able to supply a maximum power effect in the grid of about 25 MW to new electricity consumers.
It is also a step towards a more robust and sustainable energy system in the Skåne region.
It’s important to us to meet current and future energy needs sustainably. Our efforts to continuously improve our production have led to a 94 percent reduction in our climate emissions. The new CHP plant will further streamline and improve our production, said Patrik Schneider, Production Manager at Kraftringen’s Heating & Cooling business area.
Worth SEK 388 million (≈ EUR 35.9 million), the project for Peab is a turnkey contract regarding site preparation and construction. Work will begin in the summer of 2025 and is expected to be completed in the winter/spring of 2028.
We’re pleased and proud to have been entrusted with building this new facility for Kraftringen and to contribute with our expertise to supplying the region with energy, said Olle Olsson, Region Manager at Peab.
