Germany to complete 525 km of core hydrogen network in 2025

Germany is expected to complete around 525 km (326.2 miles) of its planned nationwide core hydrogen network in 2025 according to the current planning status, FNB Gas, the industry association of transmission system operators, confirmed on Monday after an inquiry by Renewables Now.Of the initial 525 km, about 507 km will represent converted pipelines.In total, Germany plans to build 9,040 km of hydrogen infrastructure by 2032, including repurposing existing gas networks and developing new hydrogen pipelines.Asked about the time when the green hydrogen is actually expected to start flowing, FNB Gas said that this is a market issue, depending on traders.According to FNB Gas website, the EUR-18.9-billion (USD 19.7bn) core network will have injection and withdrawal capacities of about 101 GW and 87 GW, respectively.(EUR 1 = USD 1.043)
