Brüning Group opens new terminal in the Port of Oskarshamn
In Sweden, Smålandshamnar AB, the operator of the Port of Oskarshamn on the Swedish east coast, has announced that it has signed a strategic agreement with the German company Brüning Group for the handling of biomass- and alternative fuels, a segment with strong growth potential.

As an experienced port operator with a clear focus on forest products, Smålandshamnar brings the right infrastructure and regional expertise to the partnership.
Together, the two companies aim to develop the Port of Oskarshamn into an efficient hub for biomass deliveries, and the agreement with Brüning Group will significantly increase Smålandshamnar’s woodchip handling volume.
This creates new growth opportunities for port operations and, at the same time, strengthens the forest and energy sectors in southeastern Sweden.
The partnership thus supports both the region’s economic development and the long-term security of supply of sustainable biomass for industrial and energy customers in Europe.
Smålandshamnar sees great opportunities for the development of the regional economy and port operations through this partnership. The agreement with Brüning Group is a strategically important step for Smålandshamnar. We are positioning ourselves strongly in a segment that is central to our business and which, at the same time, offers great potential for long-term growth. Our geographical location gives us unique opportunities to contribute to sustainable development. We are continuously working to build strategically sustainable and value-creating businesses. The partnership with Brüning Group has great potential to contribute to our continued growth and strengthen the region’s economy, said Niclas Strömqvist, CEO of Smålandshamnar.
The new terminal in Oskarshamn, together with the one in the Port of Varberg, on the west coast of Sweden, complements Brüning Group’s network for efficient supply in Europe.
A new terminal in Oskarshamn is the perfect next step in our expansion in Sweden. Having direct access to a port makes it possible for us to provide our existing and new customers with fast and efficient service, commented Perry Mayr, Business Development Manager for Brüning Group in Scandinavia.
