Snap up your Made in America Philly gear before it sells out!

Ohio native Jason Kelce came to Philadelphia in 2011 to play for the Eagles and quickly made the City of Brotherly Love his home. Ever since, he’s become its champion both on the field and off. (Who could forget his impassioned Super Bowl LVII Parade speech dressed in full mummer regalia on the “Rocky Steps”? Can’t get more Philly than that!)

Over his 13-year Eagles career, Kelce distinguished himself as one of the most decorated offensive linemen in National Football League (NFL) history, but his work to boost his adopted city expanded well beyond the stadium. In 2022, Kelce founded the nonprofit Be Philly Foundation to support the education and economic outcomes of Philadelphia’s public school students. That same year, he also launched Underdog Apparel, a brand with a heavy emphasis on Eagles merch that has evolved over the years to include products made by some of Team AAM’s favorite Made in America brands, including Oxford Pennant and Sandlot Goods, with a classic American design sensibility.

A little over a year into his retirement from the NFL, the beloved center is relaunching Underdog Apparel with a collection of Made in America tees and sweatshirts produced in collaboration with American Giant – a partnership inspired by Kelce’s memories of visiting Ohio steel mills with his father, who worked in the steel industry.

“The concept of American workers making things was something that was ingrained early. And I just always gravitated toward it,” Kelce told The New York Times.

“Philadelphia was once a global center of textile production, known as the ‘Workshop of the World’ for its industrial scale and might,” Underdog’s updated “About” page states. “That era is past. But our pride of place, appreciation of substance, and spirit of hard work endure. Across the United States—from the Carolinas to California—there are still people keeping those values alive in the textile industry. They’re underdogs, just like us.”

The former Eagles center couldn’t ask for a better teammate than American Giant in his mission to create homegrown products. The San Francisco-based brand has worked hard to establish its reputation for Made in America excellence by weaving together a fully domestic supply chain, from cotton harvest to final stitch.

Underdog’s new line of sophisticated, classic apparel is certainly hitting the mark!

As the Alliance for American Manufacturing’s (AAM) resident Eagles Mega Fan and Philadelphia denizen, Advocacy Coordinator Mark Musho, puts it, “I’m a huge American Giant fan. I buy these sweatshirts by the dozen, and to see Jason Kelce align himself with them, man, there’s nothing better. He’s embraced the community of Philadelphia and become its champion.”

If you’re on the fence about securing one of Underdog’s new pieces, now is the time to do it! Several items have already sold out, but you can still get your hands on an “Underdog by American Giant Pocket Tee” for $45, an “Underdog by American Giant Crewneck Sweatshirt” for $79, or a “Vintage Hungry Dog” hat for $45.
