Sagepoint Energy launches as waste-to-energy tech provider

Sagepoint Energy brings Dynamic Renewables (Dynamic), National Organics, and BC Organics under one roof.

Dynamic Renewables is a full-service developer, owner, and operator of anaerobic digestion (AD) facilities that convert dairy manure into carbon-negative renewable natural gas (RNG).

Its National Organics subsidiary is a trucking company that specializes in hauling manure from farms to project sites equipped with anaerobic digesters.

Dynamic has led the development and construction of six AD projects producing 1.3 billion cubic feet (BCF) annually.

Processing around 900,000 (US) gallons (≈ 3.4 million litres) of dairy manure per day, BC Organics is one of North America’s largest integrated biorefineries producing low-carbon RNG, dried fiber bedding, and clean water via partnerships with 11 Wisconsin (WI) dairy farms

Experienced leadership team

Sagepoint Energy is headquartered in Carmel, Indiana and led by CEO Aaron Johnson, who has served as CEO of Dynamic since December 2023. He previously held roles as CEO of Kinetrex Energy when it was acquired by Kinder Morgan, Inc. (KMI) and then as President of RNG at KMI, where he led various investment and strategic initiatives focused on scaling the organization’s biogas footprint.

KMI deployed approximately US$1 billion in more than a dozen RNG facilities – consisting of high BTU, medium BTU, and landfill gas (LFG) to electric plants – via both greenfield development and inorganic acquisitions under Aaron Johnson leadership.

In addition, the broader leadership team comprises Brian Paplaski as CFO, Nick Soncrant as VP of Business Development, and Christina Turro as VP of Administration. Each of these previously worked with Aaron Johnson at Kinetrex and KMI, and Dan Nemke, VP of Engineering, and Karl Crave, VP of Dairy Operations, are both co-founders of Dynamic.

Ongoing support from existing investors

Sagepoint is supported and majority owned by Ares Management Infrastructure Opportunities funds (Ares), a leading alternative investment manager across the infrastructure value chain, as well as a minority investment by an unregulated affiliate of NorthWestern Energy Group, Inc. (NorthWestern), both of which have previously announced initial equity investments in Dynamic.

This support should continue to provide Sagepoint with the financial, strategic, and operational resources to scale and further execute its growth strategy.
