Sila raises $300 million to expand its Moses Lake silicon anode plant

Battery materials company Sila has raised $300 million in a private equity round to accelerate US production of its silicon-carbon (Si/C) anode and fund a planned second-phase expansion of its plant in Moses Lake, Washington.

Sila completed construction and began operations at the Moses Lake facility in fall 2025 and is ramping production. The 160-acre site starts with 2 GWh of Phase 1 capacity and is engineered to expand to as much as 250 GWh over five years.

The anode is Sila’s Titan Silicon, a Si/C material the company launched in 2021 and says delivers 20-40% higher energy density than traditional graphite, enabling smaller and lighter batteries capable of faster charging. Silicon stores far more lithium per gram than graphite, but it swells as it charges, and managing that expansion is the central engineering challenge for silicon anodes.

“This funding allows us to further scale our operations and ensure that critical industries have a secure and reliable supply of advanced batteries,” said Gene Berdichevsky, Sila co-founder and CEO.
