Maverick Construction to lead infrastructure installation for NYC curbside EV charging buildout

Maverick Corporation will lead the design, construction, and installation work for it’s electric’s newly awarded contract to build New York City’s permanent PlugNYC curbside EV charging network across all five boroughs.

it’s electric is a pioneer of curbside EV charging, which has emerged as the solution for EV drivers who don’t have the option of installing chargers at their homes. In August, the company was selected by the City of New York and the New York Power Authority (NYPA) to replace the city’s current pilot infrastructure and install an additional 600 curbside chargers over the next three years.

Maverick will provide engineering and construction services for the project. Charger installations will be targeted at neighborhoods with high concentrations of Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) drivers and limited off-street parking. The city’s Green Rides Initiative requires that all Uber and Lyft trips licensed by the TLC be electric or accessible by 2030.
