Zhifeng Wang wins the 2026 SolarPACES Lifetime Achievement Award
On the closing day of SolarPACES 2026 in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler, Germany, Zhifeng Wang from the Chinese Academy of Science, Institute for Electrical Engineering was recognized with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his transformative leadership in advancing CSP in China. Professor Wang’s daughter accepted the award on his behalf.
Professor Wang compiled China’s first national standard for concentrating solar power in 2012, which standardized the development of the whole industry. He holds over one hundred authorized invention patents and has supervised 72 postgraduate students (54 PhD candidates and 19 master’s students). As of 2025, he has published 164 SCI papers with a total citation count of 8,231 and an H-index of 51.
His monograph Design of Solar Thermal Power Plants has two Chinese editions, as well as English and Arabic versions, exerting extensive global influence.
